Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life studies the lifestyle of people of Okinawa, Japan, for their highest life expectancy rate. This book reminded me of my grandparents and their simple living with minimal resources. And trust me, this book explains all those mantras which our ancestors used to follow for a long and happy living like staying close to nature, eating 80% of hunger, eating vegetables, exercising, one day fasting in a week, socialising with people you love, and for the modern days, detox from social media and smartphones. So, I found nothing new in this book. But, it definitely reminds us of what we have forgotten – our roots, culture, the teachings of our grandparents and our way of living. Where, from tip to toe, we are immersed in technology, this book helps us move in this direction of finding a purpose in life that gives meaning to our lives. I think we all should read this book once as we all are suffering from technology overload.
