Poems are like music that soothes your mind and calm you down. R Rajasekharan’s debut poetry collection “Dewdrop and Banyan Tree” did the same to me. Despite being his first collection, there is so much sensitivity, philosophy, deep thoughts and genuine beauty in this collection of poems. I rarely had an experience with writing like this, especially when I compare it with other contemporary poets. This collection of poetry is very visceral. Honest reactions and simplicity in expressions made me rethink a lot of his poems and poetry in general. Different perspectives, vivid themes and a touch of realism that’s grave but not grim will surely make you hooked with this book. At times you might feel that some of the poems are routine, doesn’t level up your excitement, but in the end, it delivers messages of life in a true sense. You will get to see a lot of poems beholding the beauty of nature and lessons you should learn from our mother earth. Overall, I find this book better than other poetry collections written by contemporary poets I have recently read. There’s a fragrance of freshness in R Rajasekharan’s poems. Recommended!
