Truly, there are treasures even in the muds and you will never know when you might come across one. William Thackeray’s satirical prowess or his humorous wit, both were dear to me and continue to be so. However, it was his style of being realistic, biased and openly so, in his best-known work beside many by him being forgotten, Vanity Fair, that made me a lifelong admirer of him. Vanity Fair should be read by those who could enjoy the colours of the waistcoats and speed of the horses in the wagon. Also, those who wish to understand that love as described in Shakespeare’s is entirely different to love that stands on the grounds of reality, will find plenty of such examples in the novel by Thackeray. Satirical, realistic, humorous and mammoth in terms of length. Are you in already?

Summary

Vanity Fair by William Thackeray is a novel that you can ignore only if you don’t have a taste for humour, realism and satire offered in a perfect mixture! Except for its length, it ticks all those boxes! 🙂
